Book launch ‘Fountains and Water Culture in Byzantium’

The Netherlands Institute in Turkey and the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul will be launching the book ‘Fountains and Water Culture in Byzantium’ on February 10. There will be introductions by Fokke Gerritsen (NIT), Johan Mårtelius (SRII) and Ingela Nilsson (Uppsala University).

TedX is all about “ideas worth spreading” and helping societies, organizations and individuals to spark conversations. This year the theme will be “Ideas from Europe”. The Dutch and Turkish speakers will talk about their innovative ideas on creative learing methods, start-up designs and water management in cities, and you can join us in a spectacular Science Quiz. The event will take place on the 31st of March in Istanbul and on the 1st of April in Ankara.

Gezi Festival Rotterdam

The 2nd Gezi festival will take place on the 4th of July in Rotterdam. The festival commemorates and celebrated the Gezi Protest of 2013.   With workshop, concerts, food and drinks attention will be asked for the spirit and values of the Gezi protests.

Gezi Festival 2015 will be in Bergsebos – Rottebandreef 8, Lansingerland, Rotterdam on 4th of July.

The Past 100-years, Part 1: WdW Review Offline, is a conference that discusses the destabilizing wake, and subsequent geo-political reformations, that can be traced to the demise of two centuries-old Empires: the Ottoman and the Austro-Hungarian respectfully. Join them at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam on February 28 as they investigate how affect was marshaled to bind these two states together, sometimes in friendship, and other times as adversaries.
