Show young Turkish photographers
Photography is a relatively new art in Turkey. Even though the first professional photography studios were established at the end of the 19th century, photography was principally used as a means of documentation during the majority of the 20th century. Both its integration into people’s daily lives and recognition by the public as a form of art is relatively recent. As is the case with video, communication design and digital media, (artistic) photography is currently very popular with newly enrolled university students. Therefore it is especially critical to support young photographers.
